Okay, so it turns out I hadn't written anything about Guatemala yet. God, I don't want to write it all down on here. So I'm not going to. You get a few interesting highlights for free. Otherwise you have to sit and listen to me talk about it in person.
- guards at all the banks and gas stations etc., armed with uzis and sawed-off shotguns
- spectacular scenery
- interesting food
- Raul, the interpreter, who was very smitten with us girls
- Simon, the adorable cat at the Hotel Giron in Chichicastenango
- picking up lots of Spanish and actually using it
- crying in semi-public, which is a rare occasion
- learning tons about Guatemalan culture, history, ecology, coffee, transportation (the bus...oy)
and tomorrow I'm leaving for band camp yay. But it's also sad cos Zekia's going to be in town and I haven't seen Sara since the camping trip and everyone's leaving and it SUCKS! *sob* I keep getting these random urges to cry. Example: I was watching this movie on the Hallmark channel today, and someone set fire to a bunch of barns in this Amish community. I was watching it thinking, "that is so terrible and cruel and heartless and mean!" and I actually got teary. Strangest thing.
Shopping list for band camp:
beef jerky
saltines
watch battery
shit, I forgot that I need to burn some more stuff onto my ipod. crappity crap crap. Better go do that.

It's not strange to cry. People leaving your life, for any reason is an emotional thing. I find it strange how the most random things make you cry when you feel the need to. That's how it is for me, at least.
